Limited editions are a contract between me the artist and the public. A limitted edition means that I am agreeing to limit the number of prints that I will ever make of a photograph. There are no Second editions, once an edition runs out the only way to get a copy of a photograph is to purchase it from a previous owner. The number in each edition is based upon my own personal judgement but once it is set it stays the same indefinately. The number is set in stone after the first sale of a photograph and every photograph printed there after will have a unique number.
There are not separate editions for each size of a print. A Limited edition includes all sizes of that photograph.
I will allow an individual to buy out an edition if they want, Prices will be negotiated on a per print basis and only prints that have no sales will be considered for this type of purchase. In otherwords if I sold John Doe an 8x10 of a particular print then buying out the edition is not an option for Jane Watson. However If I shoot a photograph and have not sold any prints then Jane can aproach me and ask to buy the edition in which case it will become a limited edition of 1 (or more if she wants)and she will own the only print. That print will no longer be available to the public.
